Camellia Nuccios Pearl Camellias

Camellia Nuccio’s Pearl AGM

We have China and Japan to thank for Camellias, classic flowering shrubs famed for their opulent flowers and evergreen finery. Camellia Nuccio’s Pearl lacks the formality of some other varieties, a medium loose rounded evergreen studded with powder pink and white layered blooms from February to March. It’s no small wonder Camellias attract a loyal following since there are so many exquisite varieties to choose from and Camellia Niccio’s Pearl offers distinctive flowers and handsome foliage for those struggling in shady gardens. Camellia Nuccio’s Pearl is valued for its early flowers and does best in acid soil. Grow more than one variety and enjoy pops of colour and refined structure.

Camellia Nuccios Pearl

Happy and hardy in any decent well-drained acid soil in full sun, Camellia Nuccio’s Pearl is a beautiful addition to the early spring garden and being evergreen, provides great bone structure through the year. Mostly trouble-free and low-maintenance, camellias can be relied upon for stunning flowers and handsome foliage in formal and informal spaces in shady and semi-shaded city, country, suburban and wildlife gardens. 2.5-4m x 1.5-2.5m

Plant our young potted plants at any time in full or partial shade in any moist acid well-drained soil away from niggling winds. Best planted where the morning sun won’t scorch any flowers that have frosted overnight, west or sheltered north are ideal. Avoid planting when the ground is excessively wet or frozen. Remember, shrubs can take several years to reach their ultimate height and spread depending on species so give it ample growing room.

A formal problem-free evergreen shrub that needs little pruning. Tidy it up after flowering by removing any wayward, dead, damaged or diseased stems. Deadheading is optional but helps keep the plant looking tidy.
