Gleditsia Triacanthos Sunburst Garden Trees

Gleditsia triacanthos Sunburst

Gleditsia are prized for their shimmering foliage and the Golden Honey Locust tree doesn’t disappoint. A deservedly popular thornless variety, it is a good-looking medium-sized tree with outstanding golden foliage. Branches are draped with small rounded leaves beaded with small yellowish flowers creating a golden cascade before turning zesty green in summer and mellowing to pale yellow in autumn. Crinkled brown pods decorate the bare branches in early winter. Gleditsia triacanthos Sunburst has upright rounded shape with airy boughs so is never in danger of casting oppressive shade.

Gleditsia triacanthos Sunburst

Happy and hardy in any decent, well-drained soil in full sun. Mostly trouble-free and low-maintenance, the Sunburst Lace Honey Locust tree is as tough as nails, able to cope with drought, wet and wind. The perfect choice for informal flowering in larger country and suburban gardens. 8-12m x 4-8m

Plant our young potted trees at any time of year. Bare root trees should be planted when dormant between November and April. We supply root ball trees from October – May, the correct season for planting. Avoid planting when the ground is excessively wet or frozen. Remember, trees normally reach their ultimate height and spread within 20-50 years depending on species so give it ample growing room.

A versatile problem-free tree that needs little pruning. Trim lightly in February or March if needed, removing any unwanted crossed branches or dead, damaged and diseased stems
