Pleached Red Sentinel Crab Apple trees make a wonderful garden specimen, not only will these plants bring height and year round structure/privacy to your garden, there are the added benefits of the gorgeous white blossom in spring and the colourful red fruits later in the season, often persisting on the bare branches of this deciduous tree until well into winter.
Malus ‘Red Sentinel’ pleached crab apple trees are naturally small and compact (like many crab apple varieties) making them easy to maintain and a good pleached tree for smaller gardens, they will grow successfully in any soil that does not become waterlogged.
Because of the size of our pleached Red Sentinel Crab Apple trees (they are too tall for any courier delivery service!) all our Pleached Trees are delivered by our own transport, direct to you straight from our nursery. We usually use our own Land Rover and trailer and will always call you to arrange a mutually convenient day first. Delivery is still free for these beautiful trees but as they require a more bespoke approach to delivery, and we do need a minimum order of £1500 (ex VAT) to cover our costs. Pleached Red Sentinel Crab Apple trees are available for delivery to addresses in mainland England and Wales.
Our potted specimens may be planted out successfully at any time of year privided the planting site is not frozen or waterlogged.
Pleached crab apple trees are best planted with rootgrow to give them the best start, its also a good idea to add plenty of good quality garden compost or well-rotted farmyard manure at planting time (well mixed with the surrounding soil). They also benefit from a generous layer of bark chippings or a similar organic mulch to retain moisture and discourage weeds in the early years after planting.
Delivery is free for most orders above our free delivery thresholds, these are displayed above our prices in the product listings and summarized below. If you don’t need that many plants it’s not a problem, you can choose to pay our delivery charge and only order what you need.
Delivery is convenient – no signature is required so you don’t need to wait in, we will leave your parcel in the safe place that you nominate.
Delivery is fast – because we pick orders daily from our own growing beds your plants only travel the small hop to our packing shed before being sent to you, they are usually delivered within 3-7 days.
Delivery is reliable – we have been selling and delivering Hedging Plants to our customers nationwide since 1992. We have a lot of experience in packing them safely and only use tried and tested delivery partners.

Exceptions to our delivery charges are Scottish Highland and Isle of Wight delivery areas where we need to charge a little extra to cover the cost of deliveries to these outlying areas. We don’t currently delivery to other offshore addresses including Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland.
Tall plants over 2.5 metres have to be delivered by our own specialised transport, our delivery area is limited to mainland England and Wales only.
Please note there is a minimum order value of £50 for orders containing smaller plants and £250 for orders containing heavier plants
