Ceanothus thyrsiflorus var. Repens
A tough and forgiving evergreen shrub which as long as it is not planted in shade and is in well-drained soil, will grow in the most difficult of sites. Low spreading mound forming habit with glossy mid green leaves and panicles of gorgeous powder puff blue flowers which appear in May through June make a stunning border plant or even trained on a fence or over walls. Ceanothus require well drained soil and full sun for best results. An easy to care for plant requiring only a light trim to ensure it retains its shape in early spring.
Ceanothus thyrsiflorus var. Repens is a good ground cover plant (3-5 plants per square metre) and can be trimmed as an unusual flowering hedge if you have a sheltered garden (plant 2-3 plants per metre) in good well drained soil and the young shrubs will develop quite quickly to create a beautiful feature within a few seasons). This variety may be maintained as a hedge of 100-150cm needing little attention other than a trim after flowering.

Position: Best in full sun.
Foliage: Evergreen shrub, leaves stay on all year.
Soil and site: Any soil that does not waterlog in winter, sheltered spot or sunny wall
Flowering time: May and June
Growth rate: moderate/fast
Ultimate height and spread: 100cm highx 250cm wide if untrimmed.
Hardiness: Moderately hardy, may need winter protection in cold areas.
Aftercare: Water regularly after planting and through the first season until established. Remove dead branches and tidy up as required after flowering.

Exceptions to our delivery charges are Scottish Highland and Isle of Wight delivery areas where we need to charge a little extra to cover the cost of deliveries to these outlying areas. We don’t currently delivery to other offshore addresses including Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland.
Tall plants over 2.5 metres have to be delivered by our own specialised transport, our delivery area is limited to mainland England and Wales only.
Please note there is a minimum order value of £50 for orders containing smaller plants and £250 for orders containing heavier plants
